Basically really funny weird cool icons that you can copy and paste anywhere.
So how do you use them?
Add this link to your bookmarks - Twitterkeys
That’ll open up a small window like the screenshot below. Then you just copy and paste as you would any other text. Enjoy
Read about how these guys came up with it, and it became viral overnight <CLICK>
Flogd is an Aussie startup that allows you to sell stuff on your blog or.. even your myspace page. It’s bloody fascinating to me how people think up this stuff, but as i pondered upon the question, my girlfriend asked if I would give my opinion on this handbag she liked. and i looked over and saw her pointing not at ebay but a blog. So that question answered itself.
Anyway i tested the service myself… and heres some feedback sign up is easy provided you already have a paypal account. When you cut and paste the damned code, be careful about spacing because it’ll mess up your flash. I dont see any resizing option hence this stupid cart is blocking half my comments. So what i did was resize the images i used for the product. Anyway these guys are in beta… so other than that, great experience!
and please dont buy my phone.
Pin (1.com.my) wrote a book about starting web businesses. I particularly liked how he described the web design and development parts of it. I recommend it be read by a would be entreprenuer thinking of how to convert his idea into a web app for the first time. It’s a light and easy read and doesnt sound text-booky.
Pin has had years of experience doing consultancy and web design and hes got a great eye for analyzing web process flow.. so he knows his shit, and mostly i agree with alot of what he says. Especially to all the corporate types that make flash based intro pages with 2 minute download times. oh yes u know who u are.

Mike (elevyn.com) and I were having this little talk about “yammer vs present.ly” , and he was saying that the trend is for web apps to come up with a generic system that hits the entire market then eventually smaller sites come out with niche target subjects. So it isn’t really all that hard to pick a random subject matter and come up with a niche version of a viable web app/business (i.e. Ebay > etsy, Twitter > Yammer, Facebook > Socialwalk, lol ). However, as all experienced entreprenuers would say, your idea is worth squat, its all in the execution.
Anyway here is a real chance to see execution in action, because these 2 guys launched pretty much at the same time with pretty much the same product offering, and a follow up 6months to a year from now will showcase the difference in execution. cant wait.
Yammer & Present.ly both target the same market space with the same App, twitter for businesses. Throw in some group management, file sharing (present.ly) , and administrative rights, and thats pretty much it. The goal is to minimize the pain of using email for everything.
Yammer “blackmails” companies into claiming their “networks” and charges them for administrative rights. Present.ly offers packages that are based on number of users per network. Basically, they roughly cost the same once you pay.
Setting up the account and inviting users was painfree and could be accomplished within 5 minutes. Heres what Present.ly looks like. You can customize your colors, share files, create groups. Full fledge functionality, and its even free for 5 users. THere are other small differences once you start paying. IM-support, SMS, which i’m not really into but might interest some of you.

And here is Yammer. Whats cool is the desktop app that you can download and then get updates or update your group from your desktop. Interface on yammer is far superior. Everything has polished look and general functions without a hitch, but then again its missing all the features that present.ly has such as file sharing. I’m not sure if you gain those features once you pay, someone care to share?
Anyway, verdict-wise. If yammer implements filesharing, i’m a yammer fan.

Tonchidot Imagination!
Tonchidot is a startup doing mobile tagging, if you take a look at the demo below, you can see CEO Takahito Iguchi showing you how you can walk around with an iphone and see the world “tagged”. kinda like how if there was such a thing as a shoppaholic Terminator, thats how he would see the world.
BUT the madness comes after the demo. You gotta check out how this dude replies to the judges!! USE your IMAGINATION! ” We have a Patent !”
UGA Digital Inc. from DEMO’08
One of my personal favourites. A taiwanese startup, doing photo frame sharing over wifi, introduced by Howard (Howard is a DEMO participant from taiwan as well, read his interview here). Great product, i would sure as hell use it. Great business model. They arent trying to do everything under the sun, they are capturing a nice piece of the pie by licensing out the technology.
Mr. Graham is the guy behind Ycombinator. An ideas stage venture firm that focuses and finances interesting software/web based startups. Anyway contrary to what most VCs preach, Paul says FIRST you gotta focus on building something people want, THEN focus on how you’re gonna make money, not because the latter doesnt matter (holy crap that rhymed), but because its an easier problem to fix. Check it out.
